Not every city allows dispensaries

California legalised adult use statewide, but each city decides whether cannabis businesses may operate inside its own limits — and many say no. In a city that has banned commercial cannabis, there is no licensed storefront to find, and the ban typically covers delivery into the city as well.

Sunnyvale is one of them. Its municipal code prohibits commercial cannabis activity of all types in every zone, and states that all deliveries of marijuana or marijuana products are prohibited within the city — including a delivery that merely ends there. Residents 21+ may still grow up to six plants indoors. The nearest licensed retailers are in neighbouring cities, so widen your search radius.
